Luke Grose and Alex Macdonald

Luke: "I've recently graduated from the University of Nottingham after studying BA Management and Chinese. I rowed for the University and also
competed in the BIRC 2006. I'm highly motivated and continually look to challenge myself.
The idea to row the Atlantic has been with me and Mac for nearly 9 years as I truly do see it as the ultimate test"
Alex "Mac": "I''ve just graduated from the University of Lincoln after studying BSc Internet Computing, also rowing for the University.
I'm highly driven and always on the look out for that next adventure.
Luke and I planned and completed a single day Double Marathon in August 2005.
I've also completed numerous other long distance runs and rows as I enjoy the mental tests such challenges demand.

I'm interested in seeing how I react to the much heavier mental and physical stresses the Atlantic will provide"
Rowing the Atlantic Ocean has long been our ambition since first hearing about Mark Mortimer and Martin Bellamy's inspiring crossing of the
Atlantic in 1997 with 'Salamanca'. We both went to Giggleswick School from the age of 14, which is where we first met Mark as our
boarding house tutor, GCSE and A-Level History teacher as well as Rugby and Cricket coach. His row in 2004, while we were still at Giggleswick,
in the first solo race of the Atlantic, only fuelled our interest and ambition even more.
